As an associate photo editor, I got the chance to cover The Texas Longhorns softball team in the 2025 Women’s College World Series Championship against the Texas Tech Red Raiders, from June 4 – 6, 2025. The Longhorns went on to win their first softball national championship in three games. Sophia Sandoval, on the softball beat, joined me, as we drove up to Oklahoma City from Austin to report on the event.
In the fall of 2025, I was the Double Coverage Photo Editor for The Daily Texan, in charge of the art for our second issue on Fridays that is dedicated to Texas Longhorn Football. I traveled to 12 of the 13 games including: the Red River Rivalry in Dallas, Columbus against the Buckeyes, Florida twice to play the Gators and for the Cheez-It Citrus Bowl in Orlando.
As Photo Editor in the fall of 2026, I also photographed a few games including the Longhorns upset of the Buckeyes in Austin.
On our drive back from Gainesville, we made a pitstop in New Orleans to each cover our first NFL game on October. 5, 2025. Nicholas Kingman, double coverage editor, pitched a “Longhorns in the NFL,” story that got us approved to be on NFL sidelines.
My first time traveling out of the state for the Texan consisted of a 16-plus-hour drive to Greenville, South Caroline for the SEC Women’s Basketball Conference Tournament in March 2025. Since then I’ve traveled to two final fours, a sweet-sixteen and an elite eight to cover the Longhorns — with a mix of drives and flights.
A mix of Texas athletics events I’ve shot for The Daily Texan.
